I’m counting on peeling off those young white boys who don’t want to be drafted by this crazy loon. We have a whole new voting block, we need to show them the difference of government now vs government how it should be. Finally those regretting voting for trump. Addition to the D and subtraction from R and a new influx of young voters.
We are wasting our time pointing out that we can't fix stupid. Lies can't do it, emergency surveys can't do it, and hijacking TV news is such a desperate act because they know they can't fix themselves. And each day they keep making things worse. Attempting to contaminate the free press by making 60 Minutes a Trump-lying machine is beyond disgraceful. Trump can't answer any relevant questions because the truth will bury him, so he insults reporters because he is a fraud as president. He is getting a pass because he's old and sickly, but the truth is quite simple: he's unfit morally and professionally to be president. And we shouldn't call the carnival he's creating at the White House the 250th celebration. It is Trump's birthday party, and the fat boy will get his red bike. And all his stupid friends will be there. We are not invited, so we'll go to a No Kings protest instead.
I sincerely doubt trump had anything to do with the packaging and content of that mailing, though it's possible he had to approve the text of the letter. It's all completely assignable to the standard level of competence required of anyone working for trump.
If negotiations end now and they may as well because they aren't real negotiations Trump will end up with less than Obama did. Trump will end them sooner or later and give himself the Nobel Peace Prize.
It only takes one to start a war, but it takes at least two to end a war. In this case it takes Israel,Hezbollah and Hamas as well as us and Iran. It isn't over until they say so. So it is going to go on for a long time. At least some GOP members of the House are catching on, but too late. We are in for some rough times.
Unfortunately, like ancient Rome, Trump fiddles while the world burns. And as stated, he gladly adds fuel to the fires for his own enrichment, and that of his psych-phants at home and buddies like Bebe abroad. As a young history major 60 years ago, I yearned to know how the arc of societal development would bend in the tears ahead. Hoping that problems like war, hunger, and human suffering could be reduced. And they were for a short shining while. But, now we know the longer term story. Western civilization has begun a possibly irreversible convulsion that will cause it to crumble from within. The barbarians may not be at the gates. But, they are undeniably at the controls of power within the USA.
Iran would not “BE” if the US had responded to Iran’s act of war in the 1979 US Embassy seizure.
Clearly diplomacy did not work then, and definitely not now.
High minded discussions work when you’re dealing across the table with high minded participants.
We don’t have that right now. What we have is a ludicrously histrionic clash between good and evil. We being the good guys and Iran is evil incarnate.
Strategically there is no end to this; tactically you can seize weapons grade nuclear assets. There’s no will for that.
Blame whom you want. Leadership does not sway the lack of grit. No one wants the various labels of the odious. But bullies are ever present. Fighting back is the solution.
We’re using military action to no avail. War footing to aid business is much of the history of the USA. But there’s not much bang for the buck.
Trump's buffoonery...an arsonist demanding praise for calling the fire department...his genius on tasteless pageantry... safer than poking all the bears at once.
Wow, Sabrina, thanks so much for all the quotable indicators of ineptitude that properly place him on the continuum of American politicians/Presidents.
Doesn't Trump's claim to be the GOAT automatically inform everyone, including his wife, that he is more likely the opposite.
not sure anything would inform his wife. she's banal, superficial ("I'm really interested in fashion"), and obtuse. she never learned to speak fluent English; my guess is that it was intentional, a deliberate refusal to know the price she paid for marrying a criminal.
It is appropriate that the envelop telegraphs what is inside - lies, manipulation, distortion -- in fact just the 1 cent stamps tell a story. I used ChatGPT to ask about how hard it would be to put them on a mass mailing. This is what it said in part:
So this was almost certainly not about postage. It was about psychology.
The stamps in the photo appear to be USPS 1¢ Fringed Tulip stamps. USPS sells them in coils of 10,000, precisely the format suitable for high-volume mailing operations. Commercial mailing equipment can apply up to three stamps in one pass at speeds of roughly 20,000 envelopes per hour.
The recipient sees three actual little stamps and may think: They spent money sending this to me; I should at least open it, fill it out, or send it back. Combined with “RUSH,” “PROCESS IMMEDIATELY,” “MAGA PRIORITIES SURVEY
ENCLOSED,” and a letter headed “PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” it creates the appearance of urgency, personal importance and obligation.
That fits previous reporting about Trump/RNC paper fundraising solicitations: Fortune reported in 2020 that experts considered similar mailings misleading and potentially psychologically manipulative, especially toward older recipients.
A sharp way to put it in a commentary would be:
Those three penny stamps were not needed to mail the envelope back. Machines could stick them on thousands of envelopes an hour. What the RNC was buying for three cents was not postage. It was psychological leverage.
Just a side issue about manipulation. I asked ChatGPT how hard it would be to put those 3 cent stamps on the envleop and this is part of the answer:
So this was almost certainly not about postage. It was about psychology.

Outstanding Sabrina, you hit several nails directly on the head. Trump’s brain is mush. How are we going to get out of Iran? Hegseth has proven to be a buffoon. Blanche belongs in jail for not recusing himself, as trumps former personnel lawyer. We have a new DNI. What experience does this man have? Remember, stand tall and vote.
that's key. how do we reach the 90 million who didn't vote in 2024? if they didn't care enough after the insurrection on J6, what the hell will it take?
The triple-stamped prepaid envelope is the perfect metaphor for the whole administration -loudly spending extra to accomplish less, on an agency you're supposed to be defunding, while telling your donors it's fiscal genius. If his incompetence were a currency, we'd have paid off the national debt by now.
The Iran-Gaza-Lebanon-Ukraine war is not over, Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Benjamin Netanyahu are war criminals. They must be arrested, tried, convicted, and punished for “Crimes Against Humanity.”
The United States does not recognize the International Court.
And who, pray tell, is going to enforce any warrant the Court might issue? Who is willing to get into a running gun battle with the Secret Service and inflame over 40% of the American public?
Or, perhaps the Court could do some wishful thinking of their own, and try them in absentia

The best thing that could happen for the nation is for Trump; to disappear---and his body be like Jimmy Hoffa's.
I want him to die on camera so his idiots can't start shooting people over it
I get the impression that this has become personal! :)

it's gratifying that 7 of 9 performers cancelled after they found out the celebration is all about trump, not about America's birthday.
He wil never take responsibility for his failures. He needs to be removed. Anytime press questions him, he says I don’t know.

I don't disagree. I'm not certain he's even literate. but the incompetence on parade is the point, no one caught how this looks.
I have nothing useful to say here. I think I'll spend the day shoveling dirt.
Ironically or sardonically ?
Neither. I actually had a retaining wall project I needed to work on. Didn't go as well as I hoped.

it's looking like he'll just walk away and let everyone else clean up his mess. i'ld bet Iran will forever charge tolls on the strait going forward.

The U.S. does not recognize it’s own criminal deeds and that is why it won’t join the court or recognize any other authority.
