I really enjoy some on who is writing the TRUTH, many articles and news sorry usually skirt the issue, they do not aim point blank mostly because of FEAR of repercussions, they problem is that those little people who continue to support King Trump and his Joker, will not realize what is going on until they get fired, cannot get medical treatment and have to pay $12,00 a dozen for eggs , the realization is coming however so much damage will be done by then I wonder if it will be possible to pick up the pieces , THE PEOPLE have to force their congress to STAND UP and act on their behalf THE PEOPLE have to do this they are the last line of defence Please keep your articles coming
Is there not a way for Congress to limit how much money can be contributed to political parties to remain within the CU ruling. If a corporation is a citizen then why not set a maximum limit to how much they can contribute based on some sliding system wrt average people. Still skewed but proportional representation in a way. Now that the WH has removed foreign interference and anti-bribery laws expect n future elections to be 10x worse.
Citizens United allowed the super-rich to pump money into elections for their personal self interest. Most of this money goes to advertsing. In a society where everyone was rational and adept at critical thinking, and also engaged the political process because they wanted to be part of deciding who governed the country, advertising wouldn't matter nearly as much.
Even if some candidates had so much money they could buy 10x as many ads and commercials as their opponents, those who had the inclination would seek information on all the candidates. They would use the tools of reason to analyze the claims of the candidates and vote for those who they thought would best represent their interests and where they wanted their community and country to go.
Many, perhaps half, of the people in the country lack the ability to to be introspective and self-ware. They lack a finely tuned critical thinking ability. This makes them gullible and prone to believe political propaganda.
Let's consider the most racist bigoted voter you can imagine. They also like the idea of having a ruthless dictator run the country. If they knew that voting for them would drastically have a negative effect on the quality of their own life, I mean a significant change for the worst, they might realize they bought into a pack of lies and see - with great embarrassment - the error they made. They'd still be racist bigots who like having a dictator, but decide it wasn't THIS particular dictator and their policies.
As an individual, I can contribute about $2,000 to a presidential candidate, and those are after-tax dollars. Corporations contribute to super PACs with tax-deductible dollars, so we are paying for them to take from the poor and give to the rich. The Supreme Court put our government up for sale, and there's no way we can recover.
The Revolutionary War went on from 1775 to 1783. Thomas Paine wrote in 1776, that tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered. I don't know if he had any idea it would take as long as it would, but I doubt he was surprised since the patriots began as a ragtag group of disorganized citizen soldiers.
It took years for the Allies to get ready for D-Day. We are just as ragtag as the colonists were. We are only just starting to get organized.
Another excellent commentary, Sabrina. The machinations going on in Trump's orbit are in keeping with Trump's wish for a third term and, in my opinion, well beyond. America is a very economically and politically complex society. It is not a banana republic, with the only issue being how many bananas you have on hand at any given time. The Citizens United decision is a chicken coming home to roost event. Republicans in recent years have paved the way for Musk and Trump to launch the final salvo to end democracy in America, and Republicans know it. It has been reported that Republicans are afraid to hold town hall meetings and face their constituents during recess. They are now excluding Republican voters along with the pesky liberals. An indication that only the wealthy matter and a Congressional seat matters more than the Constitution. I am glad to see it because shooting themselves in the foot may dilute the Fox messaging and let Republican voters know they are part of the people willing to preserve the Constitution by any means necessary.
When it comes to trump he is always for sale. 🤬🤬🤬
Laser on target

Hit the nail on the head! Thank you!
CU: money = speech.
Therefore, who has the most money has the most “speech”. It doesn’t get more undemocratic than that. The corrupted logic is obscene and perverse.

Chilling story Sabrina. Spot on.
