Thank you once again for a searing, articulate analysis. We’re collectively clinging to treetops in an endless flood, but DANGIT, the truth lights the way out, and we are tenacious.

Like global warming denial, the consequences of Trump's ego trip and Israel's aggression will be visited on future generations. The adage, Old men make war for the young to die, will be the reality. Republicans in Congress know what Trump has done is unconstitutional. We don't need to badger them with experts to educate them. They learned all of this in middle school. What they didn't learn was never to fear the bully. The bully will take more than your lunch money; he'll take your dignity.

Trump only cares for himself - more, more, more - money, power, audolatry....

"only he himself can solve it" - all others cannot do it,

So, who can advise him?? Here is a tongue in cheek (with strings of truth intervening) understanding...

Pope Leo XIV advises the President of the U.S.A.

In true Catholic Tradition, the Pope now advises Donald Trump. It is time for his confession of his evil deeds. Leo’s advice in the confessional can bring all the world’s wars to an end in just a day - Glory be to God!

The Pope is someone that Trump now looks up to as an equivalent man of God - he is ready to take his advice... as we (and he) always say as we finger our rosary beads: “Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa!” - As my wife mentions Trump has changed from “Mea Culta! Mea Culta!”.

However, there is a small difficulty: despite Trump’s not ever taking the advice of his miserable acolytes... (I must interrupt here to quote from Frank Bruni’s latest discussion: “But what he needs at a juncture like this are confidants who can play devil’s advocate, not a coterie of toadies who whisper sweet nothings in his ear — or have nothing valuable to whisper at all.”)

The difficulty: Trump never goes to a Christian Church - the principal Christian idea of “Love thy neighbor as thyself” is as foreign to him as are the immigrants who labor to clean his bedroom, cook his meals, and keep his golf courses in tip-top shape.

But Trump respects the Pope - he believes he has found an equal - whose advice he will take! Glory be to God!

Since Trump is not a Christian, the Pope has found a solution. The same God can be found at Mecca. He proposes that Trump take a pilgrimage there, and take his acolytes/cronies with him for his security’s sake. If this is too much trouble for Trump he could alternatively (or do both) visit Buddha’s birthplace; also the Dalai Lama has promised a special free 3-week summer retreat in the Himalaya mountains (the Chinese government has given their OK).

Thank you Pope Leo XIV for your great suggestions which will surely save the whole world’s humanity from both God’s wrath and the extremism of the Devil.

We will not again have to go through rebellion to bring us kindness and freedom to all!

Not again the War of the States to free the slaves; and bring an end to racism!

Not again the War against good King George III; and produce our Declaration of Independence!

Not again the War of the Barons against King John; and write the Magna Carta!

And perhaps the most bloodless of all our fights for freedom ......

Not again the acolytes’ rebellion against the overbearing Julius Caesar; to produce a free Roman Empire.

Thank you Pope Leo, Mohammed, Buddha, the Dalai Lama, and the many other Gods who will play their part.

I agree with your assessment of Trump's motivation for authorizing this attack. It was, as so much of what he does, based on his psychopatholgy (which I wrote about today as I've done dozens of times).

Trump already has visited his jealousy and his personal ego on the country. I would use the terms "malevolent jealousy" and "his sick personal ego." It remains to be seen whether democracy, and us, will survive his presidency.

Whatever the repercussions to his act of war he will blame President Biden. Mea culpa is not in his emotional vocabulary.

Laudable, Sabrina, spot on. Trump needs to be at the top of the news, for that he needed a war, or at least a quick bombing (war scares him, it’s uncontrollable). Ego (namely, his) is currently the driving force behind all our foreign policy, domestic policy, press conferences, executive orders and social media posts.

Today, the Supreme Court will publish opinions likely to alter constitutional oversight, an oversight generally dismissed, by the Trump administration. What you describe in your post is akin to the leaked Alioto memo about Roe v. Wade. Trump knows somehow the Supreme Court today will support his vision of governance without constraint. Bombing Iran gave DRT MAGA "street cred": a complete disregard for constitutional checks and balances. What will the Supremes and the Congress do when DRT says, "You're Fired". And, hopefully, if the judiciary delivers another setback to the Trump Administration, please consider my erroneous viewpoint as par for the course of an UN-Harvard educated shmuck. TN10670

It may even be that the American bombing of the Iranian nuclear facilities has created a situation where Iran is within weeks of obtaining proven, working nuclear warheads. And that the Iranian enriched uranium is already in Russia:

An Offer The Ayatollah couldn't refuse

The American attack on Iran's nuclear facilities was signaled in advance, most likely by Putin, who was in the loop on the planning from the start. In fact, Lev Parnas makes the point that the attack would not have taken place without the green light from Moscow.

But what would Iran have made of this plan? Why would Iran concede to a plan to destroy it's nuclear facilities that it had spent decades building? And an untold fortune?

Firstly, it must be said that the Ayatollah was pretty much out of options. Israel had decapitated the highest echelon of his Republican Guard, and there weren't any lower rank generals willing to step up to the plate. The infiltration by Mossad was total. Reports were that the Ayatollah was effectively incommunicado, fearful of using electronic means of communication and resorting to issuing hand-written orders. The Islamofascist Regime was teetering on collapse, with a disgruntled population just waiting for its demise.

And so Putin made the Ayatollah an offer he couldn't refuse: Iran would send the 800 pounds of 60% enriched uranium - the crown jewels of the Iranian nuclear program - to Russia. This would then be processed at existing Russian facilities to 90%. Weapons grade. Obviously for a price. Then, at further cost, this material could be fashioned into nuclear warheads to a proven design. This means that the nuclear bombs wouldn't need testing, which would have been a necessary step if the program were to be completed in Iran. And a dead give-away.

Just imagine being in a situation where you had to trust Putin to return the completed weapons to you. But that's where the Ayatollah is.

This way the Ayatollah can turn a losing hand to one where he can return with power. He can offer the Iranian military command (or what's left of it) nuclear warheads to a proven design, in weeks and not years. Then with the military behind him, all he needs to do then is to clean house of Mossad . . .

And so, the day following the American bombing raid, the Ayatollah sent his Foreign Minister to Moscow - most likely with a cargo hold full of radioactive uranium.
